Paul Hoover’s books of poems include Poems in Spanish, which was nominated for Bay Area Book Reviewers Award, Winter (Mirror), Rehearsal in Black, Sonnet 56, Corazón (translated into Spanish by María Baranda), and Totem and Shadow: New and Selected Poems. He is the editor of the anthology Postmodern American Poetry (W.W. Norton) and the co-editor (with Maxine Chernoff) of the influential literary magazine, New American Writing. With Maxine Chernoff, he has translated Selected Poems of Friedrich Hölderlein (winner of the 2009 PEN Translation Award) and, with Hguyen Do, Contemporary Vietnamese Poetry. Professor of Creative Writing at San Francisco State University, he has also published a collection of literary essays, Fables of Representation.
